Businessman behind well-known company dead – Go to history

Throughout his life, Ib Møller has had a great love for wood and the maritime world.

It began with driftwood, and it began in Skagen, which has therefore quite naturally been Ib Møller’s preferred base for both work and leisure.

It was also in Skagen that he fell asleep peacefully on Monday 14 October.

This is what his long-time friend, Tomas Pedersen, tells Ritzau.

– He was a very interesting and exciting person – an uncompromising creator with a focus on aesthetics and quality solutions. His drive was to create and see things develop, says Tomas Pedersen.

The entrepreneur fell asleep peacefully on Monday 14 October in Skagen. It is Ib Møller’s widow and daughter who have given Tomas Pedersen information about the death.

Ib Møller started his career in the construction industry, where he used excess wood to build stairs when cutting out table tops.

It was in 1973 that Trip Trap was founded, which developed into a high-quality interior company. It manufactures a multitude of products such as garden furniture, benches, bed frames and kitchen tools such as cutting boards.

This is not the Norwegian competitor, Tripp Trapp, which produced the well-known high chair.

In the mid-00s, Ib Møller sold the company, which in 2016 changed its name to Skagerak – also because of the confusion with Tripp Trapp.

Ib Møller was a serial entrepreneur. In addition to Trip Trap, he founded the timber company Rikki Tikki Company as well as several other companies, Tomas Pedersen says.

Tomas Pedersen says that he has received many messages from people who have worked with Ib Møller over time.

– He made a big impression on people. He was warm, and he was both a knowledgeable and educated person, he says.
