His older brother, Chairman Shin Kyuk-ho, is also a giant in the history of domestic food. Starting with selling chewing gum in Japan, he established Lotte Group, the 5th largest business in Korea. He left in January 2020 at the age of 98. He flew to Japan on the lieutenant’s ferry in 1941 to start delivering his milk, and his business skills were so outstanding that his employer trusted him and helped finance his business.
