Business tourism: Madagascar, a destination of choice – Newsmada

Madagascar is increasingly positioning itself as a destination of choice for business tourism, or MICE tourism (Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions). The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Viviane Dewa, highlighted this attractive potential during a recent interview with a Reunion channel. She urged high-end tourism players to invest in the island of Nosy Be, stressing that the development of the MICE sector could be an essential lever to boost the local economy and attract a wealthy international clientele.
To mark the beginning of her mandate, Minister Dewa began a tour of the North of the country on August 30. This visit was an opportunity to meet with various stakeholders in the tourism sector, in order to strengthen local initiatives in this area. In Nosy Be, discussions focused on investment in infrastructure dedicated to meetings, congresses, exhibitions and business trips.
Northern tourism operators took advantage of this visit to highlight the importance of opening air links between Antsiranana and other cities such as Nosy Be, Antalaha and Maroantsetra. A proposal that Minister Dewa has undertaken to examine in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport.
