The Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME) refused payment of the bonus of 60 thousand pesos for registered employees, for understanding that the private sector salary adjustment mechanism “are parity and not an imposition of the State on labor relations”.

The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, announced the payment of a fixed sum of $60,000, in two installments of $30,000 to be collected in September and October, for the private and state workers of the Nation with salaries of up to $400,000.

Kelly Olmos explained how and when the lump sums will be paid to workers

The SME entity maintained that each sector of the economy and each company in particular “go through different situations that can never be homologated to the point of unilaterally establishing general increases, even assuming the national Executive Branch 50% of the increase provided”.

In particular, he indicated thathe sectors of Commerce and Rural Workers “have just held their joint meetings, which implies that the granting of the bond in question will be absolutely outdated from the reopening of the negotiations, in the framework of an accelerated inflationary process”.

“Micro, small and medium-sized companies have been losing their economic results for several months and this imposition will exacerbate that loss,” CAME complained.

Kelly Olmos: “The drought generated this problem of high inflation that we are going through”

And warned that “State interference in private activity not only makes the natural relationship between employers and employees more complex, but also puts the weak situation of thousands of SMEs at risk who are going through a scenario of extreme fragility, with costs that are constantly increasing, with the impossibility of importing basic inputs and with a recession that increasingly threatens consumption”.

Position of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce

The Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) issued a statement in which it “expresses its deep concern in relation to the granting of a sum to private sector workers recently announced by the National Government”.

For the entity, “joint negotiations the area where remuneration must be determined, since there the legitimate claims of the workers can be reconciled with the real possibilities of the companies in each sector”.

Although it recognizes the deterioration of the purchasing power of wages, the CAC warns that “A good part of the country’s companies is in a delicate situation, precisely due to a disorderly macroeconomy and stagnation that has accumulated for a decade, which makes it unfeasible for them to face the fixed sum”.

The lump sum is charged in September and October because it supplements the salaries for August and September.

3) What does it mean that the fixed sum is “non-remunerative”?

  • It does not add to calculate the Christmas bonus.
  • It does not add to calculate overtime.
  • It does not add to the calculation of vacations if I took them in August or take them in September.
  • Does not add up to prizes or compensation.
  • It is not included in the salary unless it is incorporated by parity.
