The inauguration of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BP Danantara) by President Prabowo Subianto was canceled on Thursday (7/11) and further decisions are still pending. The certainty of the amount of funds managed by Danantara and the composition of its leadership ranks is still a question.

Even though it has been temporarily postponed, the President Director of PT Kiwoom Sekuritas, Chang-kun Shin, welcomed the formation of the Danantara investment agency under the government of President Prabowo Subianto.

“The formation of BP Danantara could be a hope in stimulating the capital market, because it can increase transactions in the world of capital markets,” said Shin in his statement, Saturday (9/11).

Apart from that, Prabowo is said to have appointed former Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) 2012-2017 Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad as head of BP Danantara and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani as Chairman. Recently, it was also reported that Pandu Patria Sjahrir would join as CEO of Danantara.

Regarding this matter, Shin cannot yet assess what impact the appointment of these trusted officials will have on the capital market. But he believes Pandu has the experience and competence to occupy this position.

“Mr Pandu, we already know his background. He is quite experienced and competent. He was once a stock exchange commissioner and also ran a private company in the financial sector as well,” he said.

“But we still can’t see the impact because currently we are still waiting to see how the BP Danantara Scheme will be in terms of the investment policies made and other policies,” he added. (Z-11)
