The strike of workers at Daewoo Shipbuilding’s partner companies has been going on for over a month, but there is no sign of resolving the conflict between labor and management.
In the midst of this, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the original contractor, has called for a thorough investigation into illegal strikes, claiming that the damage alone is over 280 billion won.

The strike of workers at Daewoo Shipbuilding’s partner companies is not finding a clue to a solution.
The positions of strikers and the demands of strikers for a 30% wage increase and collective bargaining are unrealistic.
In the midst of this, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, the original building, came forward to complain regarding the damage.
As the delivery of the four ships was postponed indefinitely due to the occupancy of strikers, the damage estimated so far alone exceeds 280 billion won.
If you add compensation for delay due to delay in delivery, the amount of damage will increase, urging a thorough investigation into illegal strikes as soon as possible.
{Park Doo-seon / President of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering / “I sincerely ask for your request not to go to waste due to the boom in shipbuilding following a long time and illegal strikes. Please thoroughly investigate all illegal acts.”}
It is the position that Daewoo Shipbuilding’s intervention in negotiations demanded by strikers is legally impossible.
{Lee Young-ho / Head of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Support Division / “There is no way we can force our partners to negotiate, and subcontractors (workers) are not legally what we negotiate with.”}
In addition, Daewoo Shipbuilding declared emergency management, adjusted working hours and entered a 24-hour working system for executives.
On the other hand, the subcontracted union is in the position of going on a nationwide strike if public power is used.
As the subcontractor union is scheduled to hold a resolution meeting at the main gate of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering tomorrow (8th), friction with other workers who oppose the strike is also concerned.
