On the evening of February 2, the Traffic Police Department said that the driver of a 40-seat passenger car on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway had violated the “dramatic” alcohol concentration at 0.470 mg/l of gas. breathe.

At 16:00 on the same day, the working group of the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 1 (Team 1, Traffic Police Department) set up a checkpoint to handle violations at Km6 of the highway. Noi Bai-Lao Cai asked the driver passenger cars carrying license plate 29B-614.XX, running the route Hanoi-Lao Cai, stop and check.

Through measuring alcohol concentration, the Traffic Police force discovered that the NTD driver (born in 1971, residing in Vinh Phuc) violated the level of 0.470 mg/l breathing gas.

This is a very high level of violation, 1.1 times higher than the highest level of violation specified in Decree 100/ND-CP (on sanctioning of administrative violations in the field of road and railway traffic).

According to the functional forces, it is very dangerous for the driver to violate the alcohol concentration at the “framework” level and still operate the passenger car on the highway.

“At the time of the violation, the driver was carrying many passengers, the car was on the highway, just a little mistake will cause a catastrophic accident,” a representative of the Traffic Police Department said.

According to statistics of the Traffic Police Department, during the seven days of the Lunar New Year holiday in 2023, traffic police nationwide fined more than 7,700 cases. Violation of alcohol concentrationan increase of nearly 600% compared to the Tiger New Year 2022.

The Traffic Police Department explained that the increase in alcohol concentration was due to the fact that functional forces had increased inspection by many measures such as setting up checkpoints at major roads, near pubs, and mobile patrols. For example, in Hanoi, on the night of the 30th of Tet, many 141 checkpoints were deployed, thousands of drivers were checked.
