UBS hijacks the CS Purchasing Managers Index
The new monster bank UBS hasn’t even come close to digesting Credit Suisse before it’s already absorbing another product from its takeover target. On Wednesday it published the monthly purchasing managers’ index, which is considered one of the most reliable early indicators of developments in industry and the service sector. For more than 25 years, Credit Suisse had created this index together with the Association for Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. Now UBS has under its chief economist Daniel Kalt hijacked the index. Coincidence or not: Kalt started working as an economist at UBS at exactly the same time that his former competitors from Credit Suisse were working on the purchasing managers index for the first time.
