Burnout Syndrome: Learn How to Treat the Conditions That Cause Burnout

2024-09-03 21:54:22

According to the National Association of Occupational Medicine (ANAMT), burnout syndrome affects 30% of Brazilian workers. According to the International Stress Management Association (ISMA-BR), a global association focused on the prevention and treatment of stress, Brazil ranks second in the world in cases, behind Japan.

Recently reclassified as an occupational disease by the World Health Organization (WHO), its diagnosis is a time of alarm for physical and mental health. Vagner Vinicius Morais de Araújo, a psychologist from Amor Saúde, says that the first step after a diagnosis of burnout syndrome is to seek professional support.

“It is important to seek support, whether through treatment with a professional psychologist or medical advice. This support can help people develop strategies for coping with stress and regulating their emotions,” the professional explains.

In addition to psychological support, Wagner stresses the need to rest and stay away from activities that cause exhaustion. “After diagnosis, it’s critical to consider taking time off, reducing responsibilities, and even reevaluating life priorities. This time of rest is critical to allowing the body and mind to begin to recover from chronic stress,” he says.
