The images of the smoke seen on the other side of the Atlantic were captured in Vigo, in the northwest of Spain.

NASA reported earlier this week that smoke from the wildfires will travel as far as Europe. The plume of smoke also reached France.

However, the smoke being concentrated very high in the atmosphere, Europeans should not feel the same effects as in Montreal or Chicago.

The skies of the American metropolis were covered in smoke on Tuesday, making Chicago the second most polluted city in the world by evening.

Detroit, Michigan held the unenviable top spot in IQAir’s rankings.
