Burkinabe Defense Minister Colonel-Major Kassoum Coulibaly on Wednesday denounced an “international coalition” once morest Burkina Faso, saying the country has even recorded “violations of its airspace”.
Coulibaly, made these statements during an information meeting on Wednesday with Burkinabè civil society on the actions undertaken in the context of the fight once morest terrorism.
Without giving any details on the composition of this coalition, the Burkinabe minister denounced the double talk of certain parties in the fight once morest terrorism.
Regarding the support of partners in the fight once morest terrorism, Coulibaly said: “We have made requests, but what do they bring us? We are acting on our own at the moment. Few people intervene, even at the level of the international organizations we attend, we tell them the same thing. It is not a question of sitting down and saying that we are doing joint maneuvers together (…)”.
“Burkina Faso is only asking for resources to be sent to it to fight terrorism. We don’t need a single foreign soldier to lead this fight. We are going to manage this affair ourselves. Thank God, the population massively responded to the call of the Head of State by registering as volunteers for the defense of the homeland (VDP). We asked for 50 thousand, we are at more than 90 thousand”, he said. he adds.
Since 2015, Burkina Faso has faced recurrent terrorist attacks in several regions.
The Burkinabè government has decreed “the order of general mobilization and warning” in order to “give a legal and legal framework to all the actions” undertaken by the State in the context of the fight once morest terrorism.
The state of emergency is in force in eight out of the country’s thirteen regions.
