Burgos Takes Center Stage: Local Actress Eva Manjón Shines in Upcoming Film ‘La huella del mal’

“It was about time to film in Burgos and for the producers to realize the potential of the province and its wonderful locations,” claims Eva Manjón, a Burgos actress who will have a small role in The Mark of Evil. Manjón will portray Victoria Salgado, one of the forensic experts on the investigation team, in a scene with Blanca Suárez, who plays the lead character in the film by writer, director, and screenwriter Manuel Ríos. “This is my first time working with him, but I’m very excited because I really like his novels, his charisma for thrillers, and his search for mystery,” confesses the local artist.

The filming of the feature-length film, produced by La Charito Films and Nadcom, will take place next August in iconic Burgos locations such as the Atapuerca archaeological sites or the Museum of Human Evolution. “Bringing a film crew into the sites is like bringing an elephant into a china shop,” predicts Manjón, referring to issues such as space limitations or the maximum preservation of the environment. Likewise, she foresees success for the audiovisual adaptation of the novel, alluding in this sense to the Netflix platform.

Regarding her profession, which she has been dedicated to since she was 19, she does not value fame, but rather “being able to live every day from what is done.” She started in the industry at the age of five when she attended the Karraskedo Municipal Puppet School and danced with Alberto Estébanez. After finishing her studies at La Salle school, she made the big leap to the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid, where she continued to train and began working as an actress. She has played roles in The Ministry of Time, The Secret of Puente Viejo, or Serve and Protect, as well as in theater plays and musicals like Grease or Peter Pan. Additionally, she produced My Last Night with Sara, a true ode to the great Sara Montiel. “There was a very specific, not very positive image of her, and uncovering that to approach the character more than the myth was complicated.” However, she states that her favorite role has been playing Amalia in Six Sisters for TVE. “It was a very endearing character because she was comic, but then it became more dramatic and went through many phases. As an actress, it was very stimulating,” she details.

Manjón is a versatile woman. Not only for her work as an actress in film, theater, and musicals, as a voiceover artist, and as a teacher at an acting school, but also for her dedication to directing and producing works under her brand Evita Produce. “This idea arises from the need to reinvent oneself and be proactive to stay in the industry,” she states. The latest project under her name has a Burgos name and is developed alongside the Cultural Association Manapites from the town of Fuenteodra. It is the Geofest performing arts festival, in the Las Loras Geopark, which will take place from August 3 to 25 because “small towns need stimuli and more life, and that’s why we developed this idea.”
