Friday morning, the Basse-Meuse police got their hands on three people suspected of several thefts committed in Visé the previous night. The alert had been given a little earlier by a resident of the heights of the Cité de l’Oie. Awakened by the barking of his dog, he had seen his front door slam brutally when he got up to see what was going on.
Realizing that he had just put thieves to flight, he immediately dialed 101 to report the incident. Several police teams from Basse-Meuse then went on the hunt. And one of them had a lucky hand at Visé station, where three suspicious-looking individuals were spotted. Their check confirmed the suspicions of the Bassimosan bloodhounds: the loot of the last burglary was indeed found in their possession.
This Saturday, they were brought to the Liège public prosecutor’s office, where the magistrate on duty requested an arrest warrant once morest them. These three people, illegal residents, are in fact suspected of a total of three acts, committed in the streets of Berneau, Maastricht and Wade: a theft in a house, an attempted theft in another house as well as a theft from a car. These three facts would all have been committed on the night of Thursday to Friday.
Apparently from Maastricht, the three thieves were picked up as they prepared to return to the Netherlands with their loot.
