This is said to be the man who broke into the Vienna apartment of Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler (ÖVP) in August, the “Kurier” reported online. Police confirmed an arrest, but pointed out that no personal information would be released.
According to the police, the man behaved very conspicuously, which is why he was observed by the police. In the course of this, the officers discovered a very close resemblance to a person wanted on the basis of an EU arrest warrant following breaking into an apartment in Vienna-Döbling, which was then confirmed. The 49-year-old Serb was temporarily arrested on suspicion of burglary. Burglary tools were found and confiscated from the suspect. During questioning, the 49-year-old confessed to having committed the burglary on August 23rd.
“Many thanks to the Vienna police”
The minister herself then praised the officers’ work in a statement to the APA: “Many thanks to the Vienna police, who have once once more proven in this case how professionally they work. The rapid identification and arrest of a perpetrator is meticulous work “This is due to the forensics, the LKA and also good contacts with the authorities abroad.”
The monitoring app on the cell phone started working
Edtstadler was notified of the break-in while she was on vacation because her surveillance app on her cell phone was working. Accordingly, she saw two men camouflaged with scarves and caps, which were broadcast by her surveillance camera until one of the perpetrators may have deactivated the camera. The 49-year-old’s accomplice is still being searched for.
