On the night of May 8 to 9, shortly following 3 a.m., the Liège police services noted, via the City’s surveillance cameras, that two individuals “were lingering” in front of the entrance door of the tavern. “Aux Augustins”, located at the corner of the street of the same name and Boulevard d’Avroy, in the city center.
It enters through a 50cm hole
One of the two men had indeed broken the window of the door of the establishment and had managed to enter it via a hole 50 centimeters in diameter, as we were told this Wednesday at the Liège prosecutor’s office. “He then came out without being able to take the slightest thing away”.
A team from the anti-banditry platoon arrived on the scene a few moments later, while the two individuals were fleeing. Very quickly, the PAB police officers managed to arrest them and deprive them of their freedom.
“It’s the police! »
Several objects were discovered on them. The first, the one that entered the drinking establishment, concealed a cutter. On the second, a “multifunction” tool was found. The latter also carried a backpack which contained some 47 diverse and varied jewels: rings, earrings, necklaces or even watches.
During his hearing, the young man disputed the facts. He even had the nerve to say that it was the PAB police who put the jewelry in his bag! Both men also denied running away.
The two individuals arrested, who say they were born in 1999 and 2005 respectively, but are in fact from 2005 and 2004 (…) were brought to the Liège public prosecutor’s office on Wednesday with a request for an arrest warrant. One of the two young men, just of age therefore, had just been released at the end of April in the context of a case where he was already the subject of a request for a warrant.
