A Bed & Breakfast (B&B) in Ghent was robbed overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office reported on Friday. The burglars also seized a car belonging to one of the customers, but were later apprehended in Brussels.
The burglary took place in a dwelling located near Gand-Saint-Pierre station. The perpetrators broke into some guest rooms and took away several objects. In their escape, they also stole a car belonging to one of the B&B’s tenants.
The car in question was spotted by the police and followed to Brussels. Three men were in the vehicle. All were presented to the investigating judge and placed under arrest warrant for burglary and theft. While two of the suspects are 23 and 20 years old, the third claims to be only 16 years old. According to the prosecution, the latter was nevertheless previously subjected to a bone scan confirming that he was indeed of legal age.
