The Senegalese contingent of MONUSCO in Bunia (Ituri) provided, Monday, August 29, the Bankoko health center in Mbunya commune with a large batch of drugs.

This is to enable this health center to provide good care for patients suffering from malaria, respiratory diseases, gastric and digestive infections, but also for the health of pregnant women.

The head nurse of this health structure, Consolé Kyomuhendo is delighted with this support from MONUSCO.

“We serve civilians as well as the military. But our resources are limited. We treat some patients for free. Other patients are unable to pay the fees for their treatment and others escape without paying their bills. This donation will alleviate our difficulties. Thanks to MONUSCO. We ask that this is not the last time. This gesture testifies to the good collaboration between MONUSCO and us,” said Consolé Kyomuhendo.

For the Squadron Leader of the Senegalese Formed Police Unit, Mame Rokhaya, this donation falls within the framework of MONUSCO’s mandate, that of supporting the protection of civilians.

He explained the choice made for the Bankoko health center:

“We have seen that around this health structure, there are many vulnerable people. We therefore selected this hospital especially since in the past, MONUSCO had to support it. What motivated us was above all the protection of civilians. Beyond our patrols, the protection of civilians that we do as part of our daily missions, there is the other aspect where we must help the population in all cases. Let it be on the security level but also on the mutual aid side ”.
