Bundesliga: Exciting numbers! Important rain of money for Bayern, BVB and Co. revealed | Sports

The new “money ranking” of the Bundesliga is here!

Every year, the clubs are happy regarding sums in the millions from the distribution of national and international media proceeds. This is also the case for this 2022/23 season.

For the current season, according to the DFL’s planning figures, which are available to “kicker”, a total of 1.053 billion euros (previous year: 1.189 billion euros) are distributed among the 18 first division clubs. However, the final figures can still change slightly.

In the ranking of media revenues, FC Bayern is the undisputed leader with EUR 90.2 million. They are followed by BVB (80.1 million), RB Leipzig (78.3 million), Leverkusen (75.5 million) and Frankfurt (73.5 million).

Biggest Winner: Union Berlin. Last season, their second in the Bundesliga, the Köpenickers were only 17th. Now they have overtaken clubs like Mainz, Cologne and city rivals Hertha BSC and are tenth in the table with 54.9 million euros.

Since last season, the national TV money has been distributed according to a new distribution key across the four pillars of equal distribution, performance, young talent and interest. Mainly because of the consequences of the corona pandemic, the DFL Executive Committee decided at the end of 2020 to give greater weight to the equal treatment component.

According to this, every Bundesliga club starts with a basic amount of 26 million euros (53 percent). 42 percent is distributed over the performance component. The remaining income comes from the components offspring and interest.

From the 2023/24 season, 43 percent will flow through the performance pillar and only 50 percent will flow into equal distribution. Newcomers and interest are taken into account with four and three percent respectively.

In June 2020, ex-league boss Christian Seifert (53) extended the national TV contract for the Bundesliga and 2nd division with an average of 1.1 billion euros per season for four years.
