Bundesliga: Bayern Munich get a scare but win for Kompany’s league debut

Bayern Munich had to fight until the end to win against Wolfsburg on Sunday afternoon. It was Vincent Kompany’s first match in charge of the Bavarians in the league.

Vincent Kompany won his first league match in charge of Bayern Munich, despite a few cold sweats. Dominating the game, without forcing their talent, the Bavarians took control of the match in the 19th minute through Musiala on a low cross from Boey.

Bayern then switched to “management” mode, but were caught cold after the break. Croatian Lovro Majer first equalised from a penalty before taking advantage of a gross error by Kim Min-Jae to put the “Wolves” in control.

Bayern had to react, and they did, quickly. 10 minutes later, Harry Kane was on the receiving end of a Bavarian corner. His header, off target, was touched by Wolfsburg defender Kaminski, who beat his own goalkeeper.

With 8 minutes left in regulation time, Gnabry took advantage of some great pivot work from Kane to beat Grabara and definitively seal the result of this match.

With this victory, Vincent Kompany and his team have secured the essentials, but will still have to oil the machine to hope to reach the summits during the season.
