PT Pupuk Indonesia is committed to supporting and contributing to realizing food self-sufficiency which is one of the priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto’s government. Pupuk Indonesia has a number of programs to support food self-sufficiency, one of which is the Makmur Program.
“The Makmur Program is a form of our commitment to building food security in Indonesia. With government support and close collaboration with farmers, we hope to help farmers optimize harvest yields and achieve sustainable food self-sufficiency,” said Gusrizal in a press release in Jakarta, Thursday (7 /11).
The Makmur Program, which was initiated and launched by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in August 2021, is Pupuk Indonesia’s effort to connect farmers with the agricultural ecosystem, to make it easier for farmers to access fertilizer and capital. The agricultural ecosystem in question consists of project leaders, insurance, financial institutions, agricultural technology, agro input, local government and offtakers.

Through this program, the BUMN fertilizer provides assistance, training and technological assistance to farmers to increase their agricultural yields. This collaborative and empowerment-based approach is expected to help farmers not only in terms of productivity, but also increasing income and welfare.
The party is ready to innovate and collaborate with various parties to realize the goal of food self-sufficiency. “We continue to develop various innovations, including through digitalization programs and collaboration with farmers and the government to answer the challenges of food self-sufficiency in the future,” he said.
The company is committed to ensuring the availability of fertilizer by increasing production capacity through building new factories and revitalizing old factories as well as efficient distribution. One of the steps the company has taken is the implementation of an end-to-end digitalization system in the production process and fertilizer distribution through I-Pubers, which allows the company to monitor and control the entire distribution chain so that fertilizer can be distributed on time and according to the needs of farmers in various regions. . **Editor:** Good afternoon, Gusrizal! Thank you for joining us today. PT Pupuk Indonesia has been making headlines recently with its focus on food self-sufficiency in Indonesia. Can you tell us more about the Makmur Program and its significance?
**Gusrizal:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having me. The Makmur Program is indeed a pivotal initiative for PT Pupuk Indonesia. Launched by BUMN Minister Erick Thohir in August 2021, it’s designed to enhance food security across the country. This program connects farmers directly to the agricultural ecosystem, enabling better access to fertilizers and financial resources, which is essential for optimizing harvest yields.
**Editor:** That sounds promising. How does the Makmur Program specifically support farmers in their daily operations?
**Gusrizal:** Through the Makmur Program, we provide farmers with the necessary tools and resources to succeed. This includes training sessions on sustainable farming practices, direct access to quality fertilizers, and financial support. By fostering close collaboration between farmers and our teams, we aim to create a holistic approach to agriculture that not only boosts productivity but also ensures sustainability.
**Editor:** Given the challenges that farmers face, such as climate change and market fluctuations, how do you see the role of PT Pupuk Indonesia evolving in the future?
**Gusrizal:** Our role is becoming increasingly vital as we navigate these unpredictable challenges. Moving forward, we will focus on innovation and research to develop more resilient fertilizer solutions and farming techniques. Additionally, we’ll continue to promote partnerships among stakeholders in the agricultural sector to strengthen the entire supply chain.
**Editor:** As Indonesia strives for food self-sufficiency, what impact do you hope the Makmur Program will have on the broader community?
**Gusrizal:** Our goal is to not only support farmers but also to uplift entire communities. By improving agricultural productivity, we can contribute to local economies, create job opportunities, and ultimately enhance food security for all Indonesians. We believe that a united effort in this regard will help us reach our vision of a Golden Indonesia by 2045.
