Perum Bulog is committed to continuously improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. One of the concrete steps taken is to encourage collaboration between Bulog’s Mitra Tani Program and PT Pupuk Indonesia’s Makmur program.
“This is one of the efforts in forming an ideal agricultural cultivation ecosystem. This can be realized through various components of BUMN and the private sector collaborating in efforts towards the Ministry of BUMN’s Prosperous Program,” said Perum Bulog President Director, Bayu Krisnamurthi through a written statement, Wednesday (10/7).
Bayu said that at least 2 things were the focus of the activity. First, Bulog hopes to know the real basis of farmers’ production costs. Second, provide large profits and supplies for farmers.
On the same occasion, President Director of PT Pupuk Indonesia Rahmad Pribadi said the potential in the Makmur Program is truly enormous. So far, there have been 100,180.44 hectares of rice fields that have been fostered by the Makmur Program.
“Hopefully this activity can increase the level of national productivity. The hope of PT Pupuk Indonesia is that together with Bulog it can support national food security,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi said that the signing of the memorandum of understanding was an effort to optimize agricultural production in an effort to realize food security.
“The National Food Agency’s hope is that the more land is fostered from the Makmur Program, the more Perum Bulog must be ready to become an offtaker of the agricultural products,” said Arief.
The memorandum of understanding signed between Perum Bulog and PT. Pupuk Indonesia is regarding the optimization of agricultural productivity and the purchase of harvests through the Makmur Program. The implementation of the pilot project is focused on areas adjacent to the Perum Bulog Rice Milling Center. (Z-11)
