The second presidential debate marked some notable changes in relation to the first, held in Santiago del Estero. The most notable, perhaps, was Patricia Bullrich’s strategy that notably increased her mentions to Javier Milei and led him to focus part of her exchanges between them.
The Together for Change candidate went from just 4 mentions of Milei in Santiago del Estero to 10 in Buenos Aires. More than double.
The consequence was that Milei, who in Santiago had mentioned the Together for Change candidate on 3 occasions, this time did so 6 times.
In the first debate, the focus of the libertarian’s attention had been Sergio Massa. Although in the second, the Minister of Economy continued to be at the top of Milei’s mentions, he did so on equal terms with Bullrich (6 each).
Juan Schiaretti also achieved greater attention from Milei, since he added 2 mentions in Buenos Aires ( once morest 1 in Santiago); something that Myriam Bregman might not achieve, who remained the candidate that the libertarian “attacked” the least (1 time).
Words
Beyond a higher tone of voice, a less tiring physical posture and a barricade attitude that he had not had in the first debate, in general terms Bullrich’s discursive strategy remained similar to what happened in Santiago del Estero.
The word “Argentina” was once once more the most used by Bullrich, although less frequently; and “Massa” was present with almost the same weight.
The novelty was that Bullrich left aside the terms “inflation” and “exchange rate”, very present in Santiago del Estero; and he replaced them with “defend” and “change.”
The use of “Argentina” was a constant in almost all the other candidates, since it was also the most used by Massa and Schiaretti, and came second in the case of Milei.
The exception was Bregman, who repeated “worker” more times than any of the others, followed by “Milei” (also in Santiago del Estero, the Left candidate mentioned “Argentina” among the most used words).
