Bulldogs Return Plenty This Season in Swimming

#) Jersey Shore Swimming Aims for Success in 2024-25 Offensive firepower

The Roseburg. The Bulldogs bring back five district qualifiers: Brooke Charney (50 freestyle, 1000 freestyle), Macy Wilton (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Lila Nestlerode (200 individual medley), Caitlin Ross (200 IM, 100 breaststroke), and Kate Butzler (100 backstroke). Butzler was an individual medalist last year, taking silver in the 100 backstroke, and all five swimmers witnessed success at districts, with three qualifying for multiple events.

Coach Kelly Butzler believes all her returning swimmers have the ability to return to districts feeling optimistic about the upcoming year.

“We anticipate most if not all my returning swimmers qualifying,” Butzler said.

The Bulldogs have undergone a significant transformation, adding freshmen and new swimmers, totaling 19 for the 2024-25 season. The influx brings much-needed depth, a BCA.

“This gives us depth we lacked in the previous two seasons,” Butzler said. “We have some attainable and lofty goals this season. Let us just say we will be very competitive in District 4.” The younger swimmers will benefit from competition and add more depth, contributing to the team’s overall success.

Newcomers for the Bulldogs include freshmen: Nathan Grant, Jazzlyn Jolin, Aralynn Kimble, and Trenton Myers, along with sophomores Alexis Frey, Alaina Samar, and Alison Sweeley and the team.

Last year, the Bulldogs did not have any boys swimmers. Butzler sees bright flag football.

“As long as all four stay healthy, we will be able to field relays,” Butzler noted.
