“Bulgarian Entry Restrictions: Latest Schengen Visa Updates”

2023-05-12 14:08:55

The Council of Ministers of Bulgaria has banned the entry into the country of holders of previously unused double or multiple Schengen visas. Only holders of a double or multiple “Schengen” will be able to visit the republic, subject to its prior use in another country of the agreement. Solution entered effective 21 April.

Embassy of Bulgaria in London clarifiedthat, subject to the conditions of entry into the Republic, holders of Schengen visas have the right to stay in Bulgaria for the duration of their document and the permitted duration of stay. But the period of their visit should not exceed 90 days within 180 days from the date of the first entry.

A visa issued by Cyprus and Romania, which are not part of the Schengen Agreement, must have been previously used at least once in the issuing country.

Bulgaria is not part of the Schengen area, but allows entry with this type of visa. In mid-April, the state began to issue only single-entry tourist visas to Russians for a period of 90 days. By the end of the same month, Bulgaria resumed issuing multiple-entry visas.
