The Bulgarian authorities are calling on all EU members to develop common rules for gas purchases from Russia. In particular, Sofia believes that EU members should make public the details of their contracts concluded with Gazprom.
This proposal was made by Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov at a meeting with his Italian counterpart Mario Draghi. The Bulgarian side insists that the Europeans need to unite and establish the same procedure for purchasing Russian gas for everyone. This is reported by the publication BNR.
“Now Gazprom is setting different conditions for European countries to pay for gas supplies. This problem can only be solved by joint efforts, as the Russian side is putting serious pressure on us, demanding that we pay for gas in rubles. As far as I know, many other countries have received much more loyal conditions from Russia, namely, they can continue to pay for gas in euros. So, obviously, there are different conditions for different EU members, so we believe that it is necessary to disclose all our contracts and discuss this problem,” Petkov said.
