CONSTRUCTION of the Bekasi 500 kV Extra High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GISTET) has achieved a significant achievement with the completion of two energize stages in September 2024. This strategic project is an important step in strengthening the electricity network for the Jakarta, Bekasi and surrounding areas, as well as ensuring electricity supply which is more reliable and sustainable.
General Manager of UIP JBB, Defiar Anis, said that this project is very strategic in strengthening the electricity system in Jakarta and its surroundings.
“With the completion of this energize stage, we are closer to realizing a more reliable and efficient electricity network. We hope that this project can become a main pillar in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply and supporting the reduction in the use of fossil fuels,” said Anis, Thursday (3/10 ) in the statement.

Anis added that the success of the construction of GISTET 500 kV Bekasi not only strengthens the electricity network, but also plays a role in maintaining the continuity of electricity supply for the wider community.
“This project is expected to provide long-term benefits for economic growth, industry and daily life in the areas served,” said Anis.
For information, on September 22 2024 this project successfully carried out its first energize which included 1 Busbar A Extension 500 kV (Gas Insulated Lines), 1 Bay Bus Section A 500 kV, 1 Busbar C 500 kV (Gas Insulated Switchgear).

A week later, the second phase was successfully energized on September 29 2024 which included 1 Busbar B Extension 500 kV (Gas Insulated Lines), 1 Bay Bus Section B 500 kV, 1 Busbar D_ 500 kV and Diameter 4 and 5 500 kV. With the completion of these two stages, GISTET 500 kV Bekasi is ready to strengthen the 500 kV system network.
The construction of the Bekasi 500 kV GISTET was carried out at the existing location of the 500 kV Extra High Voltage Main Substation (GITET), which required careful planning and work with great care so as not to disturb the existing electrical system which was already operating.
Anis believes that this project is very important in supporting the 500 kV Looping system in Jakarta, which is designed to increase the reliability of the electricity network and help reduce fuel use in power plants.

Meanwhile, UPP JBB 3 Manager, Arrum Rizkiani Nugrahanti, revealed that the existence of this project is expected to maintain the stability of electricity supply in the Bekasi area and its surroundings, through 4 Interbus Transformer (IBT) bays at GITET 500 kV Bekasi which connect several 150 kV subsystems.
He also said that he was very proud to have achieved this important milestone in the construction of GISTET 500 kV Bekasi.
“This project involved technical challenges that had to be overcome with careful planning and precise execution. Success energize “This is the result of the entire team’s hard work, and we are committed to continuing to maintain the reliability of the electricity system in Bekasi and its surroundings,” said Arrum.
This project will later distribute electrical energy to Muara Tawar or vice versa via SUTET Muara Tawar – Bekasi with a transmission line length of up to 18.2 kilometers with a total of 60 towers. GISTET 500 kV was built with a Busbar Extension (GIL) configuration, two Bus Sections and two Diameters leading to GITET 500 kV Muara Tawar. (S-1)
