A four-story building collapsed this followingnoon at number 98 Avenue Houba de Strooper, in Brussels. According to the first elements, it would be a house undergoing renovation. We do not yet know the causes of this collapse. The Brussels firefighters intervened on site and their spokesperson confirms that “two workers on site were able to get to safety. They heard a crack and were able to get to safety in time. We were also able to evacuate the residents of neighboring buildings calmly and without incident. Two dog handlers from protection were also called to the site to check that there were no victims in the rubble. And following two visits, the result was fortunately negative. We can say that there were no victims.”.
“The perimeter around the collapsed building is closed to traffic,” for its part indicated the Brussels-capital-Ixelles police zone. “Stib public transport is also diverted to this location.”
Furthermore, firefighters indicate that three houses neighboring the collapsed building are temporarily uninhabitable and that the residents concerned were able to find a solution to be rehoused themselves. For the moment, the causes of this collapse are not yet known.
