The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Morocco, Li Changlin, underlined, Wednesday in Casablanca, the “strategic importance” of cooperative relations between his country and Morocco, particularly in matters of economy, culture, education and technology.

Speaking during a round table organized by the Institute of Political, Legal and Social Sciences (ISPJS) of Mundiapolis University, around the theme “Sino-Moroccan relations in the new era”, the Chinese diplomat noted that the Trade between the two countries has surged in recent years, reaching a volume of more than 7 billion dollars, with China becoming a strategic trading partner of Morocco.

And to continue: “Chinese investments in Morocco have also marked a notable development mainly in key sectors such as industry, transport, renewable energies and real estate”, noting that this economic dynamic reflects the growing interest in by Chinese economic actors towards the Kingdom.

Furthermore, the Chinese ambassador called on Chinese companies to increase their investments in priority development sectors in Morocco, notably renewable energies and the automobile industry.

He also highlighted the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and educational fields, highlighting the importance of common vision, mutual exchange and pragmatic cooperation to build a solid and lasting partnership between both countries in this sense.

For his part, the dean of the ISPJS at Mundiapolis University, Ali Lahrichi, indicated that this meeting, initiated in collaboration with the Chinese embassy in Morocco, is part of the scientific activities of the Institute and aims to explore the history of the two countries and the ties of friendship between Morocco and China, two countries which have shined through the centuries, through their respective cultures and civilizations.

“On the same path as that of the past, diplomatic relations between the two States take a harmonious route in the 20th century and at the dawn of the 21st century, with a China open to the world and engaged in economic and cultural globalization, and a Morocco which is part of a path of development and progress, reinforced by the political stability which distinguishes it from its neighbors,” he said.

According to Lahrichi, these relations are characterized by stability, mutual understanding, solidarity and permanent cooperation since the opening of the Chinese embassy in Rabat in November 1958 and the diplomatic representation of Morocco in Beijing in 1960.

The two countries, he said, are working together to consolidate their friendship and their partnership within the framework of several cooperation agreements concluded in the areas of economic and technical cooperation, social development, employment, professional training, environment, health, tourism, among others.
