Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals live online: game suspended for night as Damar Hamlin is in critical condition| NFL Week 17

The Monday Night matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals was stopped and suspended after Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, collapsed on the field in the first quarter.

Game suspended after Hamlin taken to hospital

The play took place with 6:30 left in the first quarter on a pass from Joe Burrow over the middle to Tee Higgins. Higgins caught the ball and was tackled by Hamlin, who initially got up, but then collapsed to the ground. Players from both teams immediately called for medics sensing the severity of the situation.

Team medics came to his aid immediately, and then an ambulance was brought on the field. He was administered CPR after he was put on a stretcher to be placed in the ambulance.

Once transported to UC Medical Center, doctors reported that his vitals were normal and he had been put to sleep to be able to put a breathing tube down his throat. His condition is still listed as critical.

Game officials originally suspended the game for five minutes, but after a conversation between coaches Sean McDermott and Zac Taylor the teams were sent to their locker rooms to await further word for the NFL.

The injury took place at 8:55 p.m. ET, and the ambulance left for the hospital at 9:25. An hour and six minutes after the injury, the NFL finally gave word that the game would be suspended for the night.

There is no word from the league on whether the game is to be continued, but at the moment that is the farthest thing on the mind of anyone as Hamlin continues to fight for his life in the Cincinnati hospital.
