buckle up, the RTX 4000s are coming soon

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, hinted to group shareholders that the presentation of the new “Lovelace” architecture would take place during GTC 2022. Nvidia is to hold a keynote there on September 20. In less than a month, the technical basis for future RTX 4000s might therefore be unveiled.

Lovelace is coming soon. This is what Jensen Huang promised, in hollow, to the shareholders of Nvidia during the last presentation of the company’s results. The boss of Nvidia has strongly hinted that the firm would have interesting things to tell us during the 2022 edition of its GTC (GPU Technology Conference), an event which will be held this year between September 19 and 22… and which will, unsurprisingly, make the subject of an Nvidia keynote scheduled for September 20.

This might be the date chosen by the brand for the presentation of its new GPU architecture. Lovelace “. It is on this technical basis that the future GeForce RTX 4000 general public… which we should quickly discover later.

The RTX 4000s? They are approaching!

« We will overcome this situation over the next few months and approach the next year with our new architecture. “In particular, Jensen Huang told Nvidia shareholders, alluding to a slowdown in demand for GPUs dedicated to gaming. The part that interests us comes just following, the leader of the group having indicated that he ” can’t wait to say more regarding it at GTC next month ».

As pointed out The Verge, the announcement of Nvidia’s new GPU architecture does not necessarily mean that the firm will unveil its RTX 4000s immediately. We will probably have to wait a little longer… remains to be seen how long. As a reminder, the RTX 3000s were unveiled several months following the presentation of the Ampère architecture, first used on GPUs dedicated to data centers. Conversely, the RTX 2000s, in 2018, had for their part been introduced to the general public just a week following the technical presentation of the Turing architecture.

The RTX 3000 and 4000 would live in harmony (to sell off stocks)

Interesting information reported by The Verge: Nvidia is planning to make the current RTX 3000s and the upcoming RTX 4000s co-exist. The idea for the brand would be, unsurprisingly, to sell stocks of Ampere GPUs produced in large quantities… while demand has largely eroded in recent months.

Two factors to this: the loss of interest in cryptocurrency mining on a global scale, but also the upcoming arrival of new GPUs from Nvidia and AMD. This last factor very logically pushes potential buyers to wait for the release of new cards to get their hands on the latest models, rather than buying the current models at full price, taking the risk that they will be too quickly faded on the market. technical plan.

The cohabitation between RTX 3000 and 4000 on the market might be good news for the consumer, at least if this decision is accompanied by significant reductions in the price of the RTX 3000 to make them sufficiently attractive.

Nvidia’s next graphics cards are slowly but surely starting to get people talking. Here’s what we know regarding the GeForce RTX 4070, 4080 and 4090
