Former ski star Marco Büchel and racing driver Corinna Kamper secured victory in the prominent charity ski race in Flachau. The duo won the well-attended “Star Challenge” led by host Hermann Maier. Half of the winner’s check of 15,000 euros was made available to “Zuki – Future for Children” and “Wings for Life”. The event was staged as a World Cup prologue before the women’s night slalom on Tuesday (6:00 p.m./8:45 p.m., live on ORF1).
In each of the twelve teams of two, a ski legend presented the lead, and the sports or cultural celebrity then had to get as close to the time as possible. Büchel and Kamper succeeded best. As always, Hermann Maier was not interested in tactics. The local hero really had a blast on the slope named following him while presenting to the musician Christina Sturmer, who was the only snowboarder to compete. This time, Maier’s best running time went unrewarded. In addition to the “Herminator”, former greats Kristian Ghedina, Carlo Janko, Hilde Gerg and Marlies Raich were at the start.
