BOSTON – The Boston University women’s rowing program opened its first day of racing at the 58th Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday (Oct. 21), as the program’s DeWolfe Boathouse served as the starting line. BU featured two alumnae crews and two boats with current student-athletes.
The morning began with the Senior Master Eights, which crossed the finish in a time of 18:08.653. That mark was good for sixth out of 30 entries. Later, the Alumnae Fours hit the water to place eighth in 20:07.223.
BU’s Club 4+, coxed by Kennedy Walker and stroked by Julia Andrist, completed the course in a time of 18:27.859. That was good for seventh place, ahead of crews from Boston College, Northeastern, and Georgetown.
In the Club 8+, the Terriers, coxed by Alex Aravides and stroked by Ruthie Wix, were 15th in 17:10.012. BU finished ahead of the top crews from Holy Cross, MIT, and Northeastern.
The Terriers resume racing on Sunday (Oct. 22). The Championship 4+ begins at 1:35 p.m. and the Championship 8+ at 2:32 p.m.
