BOSTON – The Boston University field hockey team will return to New Balance Field to kick off a six-game homestand as the Terriers will host Bucknell on Saturday (Sept. 30) for their Patriot League home opener before taking on crosstown rival Northeastern on Sunday (Oct. 1).

Both games will be available on ESPN+ while Sunday’s game will be televised on NESN+

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU is looking to get back in the win column after a 4-0 loss to Monmouth last Sunday (Sept. 24).
The Terriers are 0-2 at home this season. 
Saturday will mark the first of six consecutive home games for the Terriers. 
The Terriers are currently tied for third in the Patriot League with a 1-1 record. 
Sophomore Caroline O’Brien leads BU with five goals on the season. 
Senior Thalia Steenssens leads the Terriers with five assists this season. 
Senior goalkeeper Kate Thomasen has started all eight games for BU this season, recording one shutout last Monday (Sept. 18).

SCOUTING BUCKNELL

Bucknell is tied with BU in the Patriot League standings with a 1-1 record.
The Bison are 5-5 overall this season and are currently riding a two-game win streak.
Junior Lily Neilson leads the Bison with seven goals this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Althouse has started all but one game this season and has a 5-4 record.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE BISON

Saturday will mark the 13th meeting all-time between the two sides.
BU is 8-4 all-time against the Bison.
The past 11 meetings have all been decided by one goal.
The Terriers won both contests against Bucknell last season with respective scores of 1-0 and 2-1. 
The Bison took the last matchup at New Balance Field with a 2-1 overtime win during the 2021 season.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN

The Huskies are 5-5 overall this season and snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday with a 6-1 conference win at Towson.
Graduate student Lauren Rowe leads the Huskies in points (17) and goals (7) on the year. 
Junior goalkeeper Kristina Merashoff has started all 10 games for the Huskies and has a .676 save percentage and a 2.25 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE HUSKIES

Sunday will mark the 55th meeting all-time between the two sides.
BU is 26-28 all-time against Northeastern.
The Terriers took the lone contest last season with a 2-1 overtime victory on the road. 
The Terriers took the last matchup at New Balance Field with a 5-4 victory during the 2019 season.

UP NEXT

The Terriers will continue their home stretch with a non-conference matchup against New Hampshire next Friday (Oct. 6).
