Bryan Woo pitched five scoreless innings and the Seattle Mariners defeated the visiting Oakland Athletics 2-0 on Friday night.

Mitch Garver and Cal Raleigh homered for the Mariners (83-77), who were eliminated from the American League wild-card race a day earlier when they had a bye week.

The A’s (69-91) are finishing the regular season on the road after playing their final game at the Coliseum on Thursday afternoon. The franchise is expected to play the next three seasons in Sacramento, California, while its new stadium in Las Vegas is built.

Woo (9-3) allowed only three hits. The right-hander walked one and struck out eight.

The only hits Woo allowed were a two-out single by Zack Gelof in the second, a single by JJ Bleday in the fourth, and a one-out single by Seth Brown in the same inning.

Woo got out of trouble by striking out Gelof and getting Jacob Wilson to ground out to second baseman Leo Rivas.

Seattle’s Gabe Speier, Gregory Santos, Tayler Saucedo and Troy Taylor each pitched an inning of scoreless relief, combining for six strikeouts, to complete the shutout.

Taylor allowed a double to Tyler Soderstrom in the ninth inning and the runner reached third on a wild pitch, but Taylor responded by striking out Daz Cameron and Gelof and getting Wilson to ground out for his first major league save.

Oakland left-hander JP Sears (11-13) took the loss despite finishing with a good start. Sears allowed two runs and four hits in six innings, with three walks and four strikeouts.

The Mariners took the lead when Garver led off the bottom of the second inning by hitting a 1-2 four-seam fastball from Sears over the center field wall.

Seattle doubled its lead with one out in the third inning. Raleigh, serving as designated hitter, threw a changeup deep to left-center field. It was Raleigh’s team-leading 32nd home run of the season and gave him 97 RBIs.
