New York: A US court has convicted a young man of murder who dumped his pregnant girlfriend’s body on the side of an express highway in Queens. Goi Charles, 33, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, Vanessa Pierre (29). The prosecution argued that Charles should be given the maximum sentence for the brutal murder of the woman who would become the mother of his child. The defendant committed the crime in October 2020. A Queen’s jury found Charles guilty in November.
In the early hours of October 23, 2020, a video emerged of Vanesapieri’s body being dumped on the side of a Queen’s highway. The court passed the sentence following examining this. A bus driver first found the woman’s body on the roadside.
In the post-mortem, it was found that he died of suffocation. Vanessa was six months pregnant when she was killed. Vanessa had always dreamed of a life with her baby and Charles, her sister said. But Charles was not interested in living as a family. It is believed that Charles decided to kill Vanessa following that. The accused was sentenced three years following the murder.
