A 19-year-old young man from the Brussels municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean was attacked and beaten on November 1 by a group of young people at the Beekkant metro station. The victim was seriously injured and remains hospitalized. The information, reported by RTL, was confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

“On November 1, around 9:05 p.m., the Brussels West police zone (Jette/Ganshoren/Koekelberg/Molenbeek-Saint-Jean/Berchem-Sainte-Agathe) received a call because an injured person was lying on the public highway on the boulevard Edmond Machtens near the Beekkant metro station,” explains the prosecution. “When the police arrived on site, the emergency services were already providing first aid to the victim while waiting for the SMUR. The victim had several head injuries and had difficulty breathing. She was taken to hospital in critical condition.”

The investigation is still underway to determine the exact circumstances of the attack, indicates the prosecution. “In the interest of the prosecution, the prosecution will not make any further comments on this matter,” he added.
