Brussels: the woman with the so-called explosive vest finally released after hearing

The woman with suspicious behavior who presented herself Monday morning at a police station in Schaerbeek, and who was then arrested, was released following a hearing by the police, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.

This woman had been arrested Monday evening at the Gare du Midi.

The Brussels-North police zone had explained that the woman had presented herself, Monday morning around 9:10 a.m., at her police station on rue de Brabant in Schaerbeek. She behaved suspiciously and then left the place. An investigation was opened on the basis of his behavior and the testimonies collected.

In the process, the various Brussels police zones had been alerted and images from video surveillance cameras were used to try to find and identify her.

According to Sudinfo and Het Nieuwsblad, the woman was wearing what might be an explosive belt, or at least electrical wires were visible on her. However, this was not the case.

Heard by the police on Tuesday, she was released. The woman will not be prosecuted either, added the prosecution.
