Brussels’ environment agency said about 300 people attended the party in its first hours. The program includes building nest boxes, meetings with experts and evening walks.

However, bat lovers can still join a night guided tour organized on August 31 at the Domaine des Silex in Watermael-Boitsfort, on the Promenade verte, to meet bats and “deconstruct certain clichés”.

Plazey is also shortened

In Kokelberg, organizers have announced that the Plazey City Festival, held in Elisabeth Park from 23 to 25 August, must close earlier than planned on Saturday 24 August due to weather conditions.

Organizers of Plazey Music Festival invite the public to leave the venue from 4:50 p.m. “We proposed hourly assessments of the situation to the Brussels Environment Agency (the organization responsible for Brussels’ parks and forests, editor’s note), but this was understandably not authorized,” explains Lies Vanoverschée, spokesman for the campaign.

The festival offers music, dance and circus performances as well as workshops, and organizers noted that events will continue on Sunday.

Parks closed, 1722 active

The Royal Institute of Meteorology (IRM) has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms from 3pm to 10pm on Saturday as thunderstorms will move across the country from west to east in the afternoon and evening. As a result, FPS internally stated that number 1722, dedicated to non-emergency intervention by firefighters, has been activated.

The IRM predicts thunderstorms that will bring heavy amounts of precipitation over a short period of time, especially strong gusty winds. The wind speed can reach 70 to 80 km/h, and even locally the wind speed is higher. All green spaces in the Brussels area are closed from 5pm.

To avoid overloading emergency number 112, FPS has activated number 1722 internally. If there is significant damage due to wind or rain, you can use this number to request assistance from firefighters. FPS Interior recommends requesting assistance from firefighters through the on-site electronic counter www.1722.bethe “most direct way” to contact firefighters. You can also call the number directly from your phone. No. 112 deals with major emergencies.
