2023-06-09 18:00:00

Reminder to distracted people and those who cannot do otherwise than take their car this weekend of June 10 and 11, 2023: the Brussels ring will be closed in Zaventem from this Saturday June 10 at 8 p.m. until Sunday June 11 at 14 hours. It is the installation of a huge bridge that requires this measure, as announced by De Werkvennootschap, in charge of the site. Serious disruption is therefore expected and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The work is concentrated on Avenue Hector Henneau. Diversions are provided for users of the ring. For the inner ringthe alternative route provides for an exit from the Zaventem interchange (exit 3 towards avenue Hector Henneau) via the R22, a detour via the Oudstrijderslaan then a return to the ring via the Sterrebeek interchange. For the outer ringa short “chicane” takes place via exit 3 towards Avenue Hector Henneau. Finally, local traffic from and to Zaventem will have to make a large loop via the N262, N2 (chaussée de Louvain), N294, N22 and A201.

The project therefore aims to replace the old bridge on Avenue Hector Henneau, which has become dangerous, with two new bridges erected side by side. The new structure is the size of half a football field (100 meters long and more than 27 meters wide). The new work will include, in addition to a lane for active mobility, an ecoduct allowing biodiversity to connect the two sides of the ring.

The construction site began at the end of April 2021 and should be completed in April 2024.
