The eight Brussels agencies of Engel & Völkers will leave the network of the prestigious real estate brand, once morest a backdrop of tension between their manager Philippe Rosy and the German parent company, the businessman said on Friday in a press release. .
After 17 years of presence in Brussels and surrounding areas, the real estate brand’s agencies will change their name and will be called “John Steed Real Estate” from Monday, says Mr. Rosy.
The manager explains this decision by a “deep disagreement with the parent company”. “I’m stopping everything because in 2020, I had to face a real mutiny fomented internally with the support of the international board of the Engel & Völkers network, which hoped to recover my franchise at a discount,” says Mr. Rosy.
“For almost three years, a judicial investigation initiated in the Parisian courts to have access to all the documents proving this internal collusion has significantly damaged my relations with the German group, since bought by an investment fund. Today, I finally won my case across the board: the decision handed down at the end of last July by the Paris Court of Appeal gave me access to all the documents in the case (…) And I intend to present to assert my rights,” assures Philippe Rosy.
For its part, the brand confirms the termination, while emphasizing that the other licenses in Belgium are in no way affected by the decision to put an end to those of Mr. Rosy’s company EV Brubel. The parent company also refuses to comment on the businessman’s allegations.

“We are starting to operate directly in the Brussels metropolitan area from this Friday, in order to strengthen our presence and our growth there. A strong performance in Brussels remains an important driver for the continued success of the Engel & Völkers brand in Belgium,” the management said in a press release.
