Brussels Public Transport Disruption for International Women’s Rights Day – Stib Updates

2024-03-08 06:16:00

As expected Thursday evening, only metro lines 1 and 5, as well as a few tram and bus lines are running this Friday in Brussels, Stib confirms on its website. The Brussels public transport network is severely disrupted due to the actions carried out for the International Day for the Struggle for Women’s Rights.

The passage frequencies of the lines which circulate are also lower than usual, underlines the Stib.

Only metro lines 1 and 5 are therefore operated, as are tram lines 3, 4, 7 (only between Vanderkindere and Docks Bruxsel), 8, 9, 18, 51 and 92. Regarding buses, only the lines 12, 36, 46, 50, 53, 56, 59, 71, 87 (extended from Simonis to Etangs Noirs), 95 and T-bus 3 (extended from Esplanade to Heysel) are served.

The Stib keeps its passengers informed in real time of disruptions to its network via its usual channels, she reminds: social networks, the mobile application, at stops or via telephone line (070/23.2000).

This Friday is celebrated as the International Day of Struggle for Women’s Rights. On this occasion, a call for a feminist strike is launched, with the aim of making women and their work visible. The CSC and the FGTB have filed a strike notice and some of the Stib staff have decided to participate in this action.
