“Brussels-Midi Police Seize Over 600 Packets of Cigarettes and Drugs in Illegal Trade Crackdown”

The Brussels-Midi police zone seized more than 600 packets of cigarettes and various quantities of cocaine and cannabis during an operation to combat the illegal cigarette trade on Saturday near the slaughterhouses of Anderlecht.

“Illegal sales of cigarettes have been taking place for some time near slaughterhouses in Anderlecht, which creates a major problem of public health and insecurity for the inhabitants”, explained the Brussels-Midi police zone on Wednesday. In an attempt to put an end to this practice, around thirty police officers were deployed on Saturday.

Nine reports were drawn up for illegal stay, five for illegal sale of cigarettes, and two for narcotics. The Brussels-Midi police zone also seized 609 packets of cigarettes, a quantity of 26.6 grams of cocaine, a quantity of 90.6 grams of cannabis resin, a precision scale, a folding knife, a sum of 540 euros in cash and six cell phones.

“The Brussels-Midi police zone remains committed to the safety and health of all citizens and will not hesitate to take strong action once morest illegal practices of this type”commented the area.
