From the start of the school year, the City of Brussels will implement a new Good Move plan in Haren. Several streets will change direction in order to reduce traffic in the small town in the north of Brussels. But among the neighbors, in Evere, the local authorities are gnashing their teeth.

Mayor Ridouane Chahid (PS) even poses an ultimatum to the City, also under a socialist mayorate. “If your plan ever has consequences for our municipality, we will consider using the necessary means so that your ‘solutions’ are not a nuisance for us,” tweeted the acting mayor and group leader of the PS in the Brussels Parliament .
Contacted, the Everois tells us that he is addressing his attack, not to Philippe Close, but to Bart Dhondt (Groen), environmental alderman for Mobility and architect of the Brussels Good Move plans. “We regret the lack of consultation. This plan will have an impact on Evere. We won’t let it happen. We cannot accept that currently calm neighborhoods find themselves flooded with transit traffic,” asserts Ridouane Chahid, who mentions possible legal action. While reiterating: “I will not do a Good Move, neither today nor tomorrow”.
According to the socialist, this Harenois plan is not part of an overall vision, which should take into consideration public transport, review the status of the Chaussée de Haecht and provide for a wider transfer of traffic towards Avenue Léopold III.
