Two tunnels were closed in Brussels on Friday morning due to flooding following heavy rains that fell on the capital, while tram traffic is disrupted in Jette, report Brussels Mobility and the capital’s firefighters.
The Arts-Loi tunnel is thus closed in both directions due to flooding, while the Vleurgat tunnel is only closed in the direction of the Bois de la Cambre. The Hall Gate tunnel to the Koekelberg basilica was also closed for a while due to flooding but has since reopened.
“On Avenue de l’Exposition in Jette, tram traffic was interrupted due to flooding,” added Walter Derieuw, spokesman for the fire department. “Currently, our teams are working on a dozen interventions in Brussels, and several more are pending.”
