The management and staff unions of Brussels-Charleroi airport (BSCA) have reached an agreement on the “purchasing power bonus“, indicates Yves Lambot, permanent secretary of the CNE, confirming information from RTBF on Tuesday evening. The common union front had filed a 15-day strike notice last week.

The “purchasing power bonus”, in the amount of 750 euros, might be granted to workers of companies having achieved good financial performance in 2022. Charleroi airport being in this case with a turnover exceeding the 92 million euros at the end of December, management announced the granting of this bonus to all its workers before reversing its comments and proposing to grant a bonus in proportion to part-time work and absenteeism.

Denouncing this proposal which might lead to the reduction, or even cancellation, of the bonus for certain workers, the staff representatives had filed a strike notice. This should ultimately not succeed since the unions and management finally agreed on a full bonus for 85% of the staff. The remaining 15% being workers absent for more than four and a half months over the period between December 2022 and August 2023.
