The eleventh edition of Brussels By Lights, the light installations that will illuminate our capital until December 31, will begin this Wednesday, November 22 in Brussels.
From downtown Brussels to Neder-Over-Heembeek via Haren and Laeken, the capital will shine with its multiple illuminations in the streets and shopping streets.
This year, the city center becomes the playground for a unique artistic experience, mixing digital and physical art, to host a geocaching course.
Brussels By lights will notably offer its visitors a unique tour of the city center illuminations, in the form of a five-kilometer geocaching game (geolocated treasure hunt), starting at 65 Boulevard Anspach (crossroads between the pedestrian zone and rue du Marché aux Poulets), at the location of a giant cat called “Eikosis”.
Eikosis combines digital art and light sculptures in a geocaching trail in the heart of Brussels. The game consists of finding mini-Eikosis (little luminous cats) hidden all along the route, via an application to download to your smartphone, starting with the big Eikosi cat.
Two ten-stage routes are offered: UP and DOWN (only accessible following completing the UP route). The different stages are peppered with anecdotes, quizzes and games.
Throughout the route, it is possible to have access to promotional offers from partner merchants, thanks to intuitive mapping. This allows you to discover the illuminations in the shopping districts from a 3.0 angle, both innovative and captivating, but also to discover the labeled businesses (bearers of the Brussels Shopping Label).
The route is divided into two routes, each route lasts approximately 1h30.
Participants who complete the first, second or both courses and obtain the highest scores will be rewarded with mini Eikosi sculptures, cat NFTs and other commercial offers (valid for six months following the end of the game) via a draw.
