Bruce Willis: His daughter shares news about the star’s health – “He is very well”

The 36-year-old actress, speaking to fans during a Q&A on Instagram, responded to the interest of her followers in the health of the Hollywood star.

“They’re great,” she wrote alongside a sweet photo of herself holding the Pulp Fiction star’s hand. “I love him so much. Thank you.’

In February 2023, Bruce’s family revealed his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD), shortly after the 69-year-old retired from acting due to his struggle with a brain disorder known as aphasia.

In the Instagram Q&A, Rumer also confirmed her recent split from Derek Richard Thomas, the father of her only child.

The split came just 16 months after the birth of their daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, in April 2023.

After a fan asked if she and Derek were still together, Rumer replied, “No, I’m a single mom but we’re together as parents.”

“I’m so grateful for Lou,” she continued, according to the dailymail. “It’s the best thing in my life and I’m forever grateful that I was able to have time in this relationship and it came into my life.”

The exact time of when Rumer and Derek started dating is unclear, but they went public with their relationship in November 2022.

After revealing the news, she noted that she was “definitely” still open to having more children as a single mother because she wants her little one to have siblings.

Brothers are one of the best parts of my life,” he noted. “I want it for Lou. So open to what the future holds.’

When asked how many children she wants, Rumer replied, “6 or 7.”

Bruce, a father of five, has been suffering from frontotemporal dementia since around the spring of 2022.

FTD is different from the more well-known type of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease. But unlike Alzheimer’s, memory is not the first to be lost.

Aphasia – difficulty speaking and putting thoughts into words – is the first symptom for most. Willis has been fighting this for two years.

FTD also changes people’s personalities as it affects the area of the brain responsible for mood regulation, causing sudden violent outbursts, inappropriate behavior in public, lack of self-awareness and anxiety.

People with FTD usually die within about eight to 10 years of diagnosis.
