Both died on August 19 in a hospital in Santa Cruz, in Rio de Janeiro. However, the news went viral at the end of the month in Brazil and continues to impact the world. João Antunes Neto, the youngest of the three brothers, was the one who told the local media the story of the short but acute illness that Francisco and Eduardo suffered.

The eldest was diagnosed with bowel cancer in May 2021 and his brother received the news that he had liver cancer a month later.

Throughout the journey, they supported each other, but they suddenly deteriorated this year. According to João, Eduardo’s health deteriorated and he had to be transferred to the nearest hospital, but he died four days later.
