BRONNY James has officially signed a four-year, $7.9 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, which will be his NBA debut and give him the opportunity to play on the same team as his father, LeBron James.
The deal comes on the same day that LeBron James agreed to a contract extension with the Lakers, ensuring that the father-son duo will make history playing on the same team in the NBA next season.
Bronny James’ contract starts at $1.15 million in 2024-25 and increases to $1.95 million the following year, $2.29 million in 2026-27 and $2.48 million with an option to extend the contract in 2027-28.
The Lakers officially announced Thursday (4/7) that they have signed contracts with Bronny James, and Dalton Knecht, who was the number 17 pick in this year’s draft, without disclosing contract details.
Bronny James, who underwent heart surgery last summer, is averaging 4.8 points on 36.6% shooting (26.7% from three), 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.3 minutes per game for the USC Trojans.
He said the nearly five-month break due to medical issues affected his development.

Lakers Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka praised James’ mindset and potential as a top priority in the team’s revamped player development program.
New Lakers coach JJ Redick also praised Bronny James’ character.
“We look at Bronny for his fundamental game, athleticism, defensive ability, shooting and passing,” Redick said. “There’s a lot to like regarding his game, and as we build our holistic player development program, he’s going to have a great chance to be a great NBA player.”
James will make his summer league debut Saturday in San Francisco once morest the Sacramento Kings in the California Classic. (Ant/Z-1)
