Broken windows, dismantled radiators, cracks… Sad facts in the communal halls of Charleroi

With a little imagination, you might even think that the two trees growing on the balcony are part of the decor. But honestly, nothing is misleading. And some walls threaten to collapse. The city recognizes that everything should be redone here in the years to come. But the Salon Communal is not one of the priorities. Renovations will begin in other rooms. The cultural center of Gosselies for example, the center for seniors of the Cité Parc or the hall of the communal school in Roux.

The fault of the previous majorities

For Alderman Xavier Desgain, “There is a heavy liability in the public building in Charleroi. I have launched major renovations since the beginning of my term of office. But the work is enormous and the associative world is worried, I understand them. We have just finished the room in the Broucheterre district. So things are progressing but we will have to recover from the delay.” Non-priority rooms such as the Salon Communal will be the subject of minor maintenance but nothing important enough, for the moment, to respond to its state of disrepair.
